A river running through acacia
A long serving board built from two slabs of acacia with a band of turquoise resin poured between them. The resin does not follow a ruled line, it follows the natural uneven edge of each piece of timber, so the river narrows and widens and wanders down the length of the board. Because it sets against whatever shape the wood gives it, no two boards run the same course. It is a serving piece first, meant for bread, cheese and charcuterie, and it does the job of a centrepiece at the same time.
Sanded back to one surface
The resin is poured proud and then taken back flush, so the finished face is a single level plane. Run a hand across it and you cannot feel where the wood ends and the resin begins, which is what stops crumbs and oil collecting along the join and is the difference between this and a board with an inlay dropped into a routed channel.
Long enough to lay out properly
At 46cm it runs the width of most tables, which is the point. There is room to lay a whole loaf lengthways, or set out three cheeses with space between them rather than crowding everything into a circle. The pale sapwood along the outer edges is left in rather than trimmed off, so you get the full range of the timber from cream through to deep brown.
Why you will love it
- Every board is different - the resin follows the timber, so the pattern is unique to yours.
- 46cm of length - lays out a full spread without crowding.
- Flush finish - wood and resin sanded back to one level surface.
- Doubles as a centrepiece - it does not want putting away in a cupboard.
- Food-safe resin - sealed flush with the timber surface.
- Acacia - dense, strongly figured and naturally water resistant.

Care
This is a serving board rather than a cutting board. Resin scratches under a knife, so lay food on it and cut elsewhere. Hand wash with warm water and a cloth, never the dishwasher, and do not leave it in standing water. Oil the timber occasionally with a food-safe finish; the resin needs nothing.
Colour and grain vary from board to board. That is the nature of pouring resin into natural timber, and it is not a fault.
