Jars worth leaving on the worktop
Most airtight storage is designed to be hidden in a cupboard, which is why it tends to look like laboratory equipment. These are the opposite. Clear glass with a turned acacia screw lid, so a row of them reads as part of the kitchen rather than as packaging you have not put away.
Sealed properly, not just covered
The lid screws down onto a gasket rather than resting on the rim, which is the difference between coffee that still smells of coffee in a fortnight and coffee that does not. Same for anything that goes stale or draws damp: nuts, ground spice, loose tea, brown sugar, dried chilli.
Why you will love it
- Acacia wood lids - the same timber as the boards, so the kitchen hangs together.
- Screw down airtight seal - a gasket, not a loose cover.
- Clear glass body - you can see what is in there and how much is left.
- Good enough to display - designed for the worktop, not the back of a cupboard.
- Neutral shape - works for coffee, spice, tea, sugar, nuts or dried fruit.
- Set of four - enough to organise one shelf properly rather than half of it.

Care
Wash the glass by hand or in the dishwasher. Keep the wooden lids out of both the dishwasher and standing water, since a hot cycle will dry the timber out and eventually crack it. Wipe them and let them dry face up. An occasional rub of food safe oil will keep the grain dark rather than letting it go pale.
